Workplace Safety Program Overview
(412) 268-3760

Last updated April 4, 2007 3:09 PM

The Environmental Health and Safety Department is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the university’s safety program. The program we have developed includes provisions for the safety of faculty, staff, students, and visitors, and we are proud oApril 26, 2007 4:57 PMd, too, because you have been a part of making the campus a safe place for learning, working, and visiting.

That does not mean we are where we want to be with respect to safety. There is always room for improvement. If you have any suggestions that you think may enhance the program, contact us at 8-8182.

Our program is governed by standards and regulations initiated by the Workplace Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). If you would like to look at any of the regulations in their entirety, go to the OSHA web page, which also has a great deal of other useful information. The National Institute for Workplace Safety and Health (NIOSH) also has an excellent web site that you may wish to look at.
